New saddle leather for seat and backrest

The Spanish Chair 2226 by Børge Mogensen has a sturdy wooden frame, wide armrests, and a seat and back made of stretched saddle leather. Here, the leather is a load-bearing part of the chair. Wear, drying out, and damage around straps and buckles must therefore be assessed along with the leather surfaces themselves.

When replacing the seat and back, the leather parts are tailored to the chair. Choose natural-colored or dyed saddle leather as the starting point for the quote. Color, thickness, surface, and details are agreed upon so that the new leather matches the expression you wish to preserve. The starting price includes new leather for the seat and back as well as installation; work on the wooden frame is a separate service.

Repair of straps and stitching

A worn leather set does not always require a full replacement. If the main surfaces are in usable condition, a limited repair of straps or stitching may be relevant. Send close-up photos of both the damage and the area around it. Cracks at a stressed attachment point require a different assessment than a loose stitch.

The starting price for this service applies to a local repair of the existing leather. Whether more straps, buckles, or larger leather parts need to be replaced will be determined in the quote.

Restoration of wooden frame

We assess the joints, armrests, and the existing surface before the treatment is agreed upon. The leather and the wooden frame should be seen as one chair, but the work on the two materials is described separately. Let us know if you want to preserve the patina and color, or if you prefer a more extensive surface treatment.

The starting price for the woodwork is the baseline for standard surface restoration. Breaks, missing wood, and major structural repairs are assessed separately.

Starting price and individual quote

The prices are per chair and include VAT. They are starting prices for the selected service; the different tasks are not automatically added together. The final price depends on the choice of materials, condition, and scope. Collection and delivery are agreed separately.

Send a photo of the entire chair, the leather from the front and back, the straps and buckles under the seat, and any damage to the wooden frame. A photo of markings or the underside helps to identify the version. Describe your project, so that materials and the scope of work can be included in a specific quote before work begins.
