Custom foam for your cushions

Made-to-measure foam is relevant when a cushion's filling needs to be replaced, or when a new cushion needs a specific shape. Foam alone does not include a finished cover. If you want a complete cushion, you must start with made-to-measure cushions.

Send images and measurements to Møbelpartner to have the shape, thickness and application assessed. The possibility of delivering a specific quality and cut must be confirmed for the specific task.

Does the foam need to fit an existing cover?

An old cover may be stretched, while the old foam may be compressed. The two parts may therefore show different dimensions. Send information about both parts instead of choosing the smallest or largest dimension without an agreement.

Please specify if the cover has a zip, if it fits tightly today, and if the shape works in the furniture. Show edges, curves, and any filling around the core. A new foam piece must fit the entire cushion construction.

Dimensions and shape

Note length, depth, and thickness without compressing the material. For angled sides, both front and back edges must be measured. Mark the cushion's direction on a drawing, and number each piece when there are multiple different cushions.

Curves, wedges and cutouts require more than three measurements. Agree whether a template is necessary and how it must be described. There is no universal cut tolerance or automatic adaptation to old covers on this page; it must appear in your final specification.

Describe the comfort before selecting the material

Tell us where the foam will be used and what is wrong with the current cushion. Is it too soft, too hard, collapsed or uneven? State whether it is for the seat, back or another purpose.

A term such as “high-resilience foam” does not define comfort on its own. Assess grade, thickness, construction and support together. Ask about the specific foam grade rather than assuming the same name means the same properties.

The base may be part of the problem

A cushion can feel uncomfortable when part of the problem lies beneath it. Show the furniture without the cushion if possible. Loose webbing, a damaged panel or an unstable frame needs separate assessment.

See repair and webbing weaving, if the support beneath is worn. More or thicker foam will not automatically fix a structure that has changed.

Indoor and outdoor use

Please specify whether the cushion is to be used indoors, on a terrace, in a boat, or in a caravan. Moisture and ventilation can be crucial for the desired construction. A filling that works for an indoor sofa cushion cannot simply be chosen for an exposed outdoor cushion.
