New weaving for Wegner CH25

CH25 has weaving in both the seat and the back. Therefore, your inquiry must specify whether you wish one surface or the entire weaving assessed. A quote for the seat alone cannot be read as a price for the whole armchair.

Carl Hansen & Søn describes CH25 as one of Wegner’s early models with handwoven paper cord in the seat and back. Read the manufacturer's description of the early Wegner chairs. The manufacturer's description of the production is not a delivery time or price indication for our restoration work.

Photograph the back from both sides

Photograph the whole chair, the seat from above and the backrest from both sides. Add a photo of the underside. Show separately where the cord has broken or become loose, and whether the problem is the same on both surfaces.

Note if the chair has previously received new weaving, or if the seat and back have been renewed at different times. This can explain differences in colour, tension, or execution.

Seat and back as a whole

The two surfaces may be worn differently. An assessment must therefore distinguish between a visible problem in the seat and the condition of the rest of the weaving. If only one surface is renewed, it is relevant to discuss the difference between new and older material.

Please specify whether you wish to retain the existing colour or if you would like to explore a different look. The specific material must be agreed upon before work begins.

Frame, armrests and joints

Show any cracks or loose joints in the wood. An armchair may feel different because the weaving is worn, but also because the construction moves. Therefore, describe where you feel the change.

Do you wish to change the surface of the frame and armrests? This must be a separate part of the task. Furniture repair and new weaving must be planned in the correct order. Mention any wish to preserve patina or an earlier finish from the outset.

Care and use after reweaving

Take the care instructions for the agreed material with you when the chair is finished. Vigorous cleaning or random care products are not a substitute for an assessment of old weaving. Tell us if products have already been used on the seat or backrest.

If you have a loose cushion for a chair, please indicate whether it is included in the job. You can read about reupholstering cushions or made-to-measure cushions, if you want to change that part at the same time.
