Give Dot stool new life

We start with the furniture’s condition, construction and your wishes. For Dot stool you can choose:

  • Reupholstery of seat
  • Restoration of a veneer surface

Send images of the entire piece of furniture and close-ups of wear or damage. We assess the task and clarify materials, price and expected time with you before work begins.

Is it worth restoring?

If our restoration price exceeds what a new item would cost, we will always inform you and provide an honest assessment before we begin. In this way, you can safely choose what makes the most sense – both for you and for the planet.

Collection & delivery

We offer collection and delivery of your furniture throughout Denmark. You are also very welcome to drop off and collect from one of our workshops. We agree a time for delivery or collection that suits you.

Dot stool: construction and work required

The Dot stool was designed by Arne Jacobsen. Dot has a small round seat on a simple tubular steel frame. The model was developed by Arne Jacobsen in collaboration with Fritz Hansen and is available with both three and four legs.

The seat's low profile and smooth edge are more important than thick upholstery. The displayed reupholstery price applies to an existing upholstered seat; the veneer version is assessed as surface work.

Choose a service for Dot stool

You can select Reupholstery of seat and Restoration of a veneer surface as a starting point in the price selector. The quote concerns your own furniture. If several jobs are needed, they are described together in the quote; selections in the price selector are not automatically added together.

The starting price for reupholstery covers a new cover on an existing upholstered seat with a usable seat board. The rounded edge and low profile are preserved. New filling, upholstering a bare wooden seat and structural damage are assessed separately. Veneer surface restoration applies to seats with exposed wood and does not include covers. The metal frame and footrest are not automatically included.

Materials and the appearance you want to preserve

For the upholstered seat, choose upholstery fabric, leather, or aniline leather with a thickness and suppleness suitable for the round edge. Color and quality are agreed upon with a sample. For a seat with visible veneer, the treatment depends on the existing finish and the condition of the top veneer. The two versions require different working methods.

Photos for assessing Dot stool

Show the seat from above, the edge from the side and the whole underside. State the diameter, number of legs and whether several stools should have matching covers.

A photo of the markings or model number helps identify the version. State the number of pieces of furniture, previous repairs, and the issues you experience during use. Take photos calmly and with enough light so that both edges and details can be seen.

Starting price and agreement before work

All prices are indicative starting prices per piece of furniture, including VAT. Material consumption, quality, and the actual condition of the furniture can change the final amount. Work is only initiated once materials, scope, and price have been agreed upon in a specific quote. The timing for drop-off and completion is clarified in the same process.
