New webbing on chairs and armchairs

Woven webbing consists of broad straps forming the seat or back. Replacement straps must match the furniture in type, width, path and fastening. The visible pattern is only part of the job; support and fitting matter just as much.

We offer replacement of webbing. If you wish to have a chair assessed via Møbelpartner, you can start with images of the entire piece, the seat and back, or the underside.

Describe what has changed

Are the bands frayed or broken, or does the seat merely feel looser than before? Has the chair lost height when you sit in it? Please specify whether the problem is in the seat, the back, or both.

If only individual straps are damaged, the remainder must still be assessed. It is not certain that a single replacement will yield a consistent result, either in tension or appearance. Do not cut off the old straps before assessment.

The fastening is model-specific

Photograph the places where the straps meet the frame. Fittings, slits and other fastenings can vary. Also take a picture of any loose parts, so it is clear what is included.

Webbing of the same colour and width is not necessarily suitable for the existing fastening. Agree on the material for the specific model. Send any markings or model name you have.

Colour, pattern and the overall set

Tell us if you wish to retain the current distribution of colours and bands. Take photos before anything is disassembled, especially if the pattern alternates between colours or widths. For multiple chairs, document differences between seat and back.

New webbing may look different from straps that have been exposed to light and use. If a single chair is to match an older set, the expectation of colour matching should be clarified before the work.

Frame and any cushions

A loose or damaged frame must be assessed before new webbing. If the chair is used with a loose cushion, both the base and the cushion can affect the comfort experience. Therefore, please describe whether the cushion is also worn, so it is clear which parts the task covers.
