FH38 Windsor Chair: construction and work required

The FH38 Windsor Chair was designed by Frits Henningsen. The FH38 has a high, curved spindle back, lower armrests, and a molded seat in solid oak. The many slender spindles connect the seat and backrest and require precise joinery.

The fixed seat is made of wood and must be restored as a wooden surface. Any loose seat cushion is considered an accessory and is treated separately; the seat of the chair itself is neither woven nor permanently upholstered.

If several jobs are needed, they are described together in the quote; selections in the price selector are not automatically added together.

The starting price is based on the restoration of the existing wooden surface. Breakages, missing wood, major structural repairs, and repair of moving parts are assessed separately. The scope of work and desired finish must be specified in the offer.

Materials and the appearance you want to preserve

The wood type, previous treatment, and desired result must be clarified before the surface is processed. An oil-treated surface requires a different approach than lacquer, and existing patina may be part of the furniture's value to you. Therefore, specify both what needs to be improved and what needs to be preserved.

Photos for assessing FH38 Windsor Chair

Show the entire chair, the wood seat surface, all back spindles and the underside joints. Mark loose spindles and cracks, and show any loose cushion separately.

A photo of the markings or model number helps identify the version. State the number of pieces of furniture, previous repairs, and the issues you experience during use. Take photos calmly and with enough light so that both edges and details can be seen.
