Piet Hein chair: construction and work required

The Piet Hein chair was designed by Piet Hein. The Piet Hein chair features a seat and a separate backrest with the superellipse’s rounded contour. The two surfaces are supported by a slender steel frame and are available in wood or with upholstery.

The version with a padded seat has an exposed wooden back, whereas a fully upholstered version requires work on both surfaces. The quote follows the existing version and does not automatically include a change from bare wood to upholstery.

Choose a service for Piet Hein chair

You can select Reupholstery of seat and Reupholstery of seat and backrest as a starting point in the price selector. The quote concerns your own furniture. If several jobs are needed, they are described together in the quote; selections in the price selector are not automatically added together.

The starting price includes new covers for the selected existing upholstery: the seat alone or the seat and backrest. Wooden versions must be assessed separately before any conversion. New filling, shell damage and repairs to the steel frame are not automatically included.

Materials and the appearance you want to preserve

You can choose furniture fabric, leather, or aniline leather as a starting point for the quote. The specific quality, color, and finish are agreed upon based on usage and preferences. A patterned textile may require more material than a solid-colored one, and the leather's natural variations must be taken into account during cutting. If multiple pieces of furniture are to have the same upholstery, they are assessed as a single project.

Photos for assessing Piet Hein chair

Show the seat and back from both sides, their edges, and the connections to the frame. State whether the chair has wood or upholstery on each surface, as well as the number of chairs.

A photo of the markings or model number helps identify the version. State the number of pieces of furniture, previous repairs, and the issues you experience during use. Take photos calmly and with enough light so that both edges and details can be seen.

Starting price and agreement before work

All prices are indicative starting prices per piece of furniture, including VAT. Material consumption, quality, and the actual condition of the furniture can change the final amount. Work is only initiated once materials, scope, and price have been agreed upon in a specific quote. The timing for drop-off and completion is clarified in the same process.
