Drawn HM4 armchair: construction and work required

The Drawn HM4 armchair was designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. The Drawn HM4 has a paper cord seat and a wide, shaped backrest between two rear posts. The slender wooden armrests and wider seat frame distinguish it from the armless HM3.

The joints of the armrests and the stability of the seat frame are inspected before new weaving. A painted or lacquered version requires a different surface treatment than oil or soap.

Choose a service for Drawn HM4 armchair

You can select New paper-cord weaving and Restoration of wooden frame as a starting point in the price selector. The quote concerns your own furniture. If several jobs are needed, they are described together in the quote; selections in the price selector are not automatically added together.

The starting price applies to a complete replacement of the weaving on the described part with the selected material. Repair of wood, loose joints, or damaged fastening points is not automatically included. These must be clarified first so that the load-bearing structure is suitable for the new weaving.

Materials and the appearance you want to preserve

New paper cord weaving is adapted to the existing construction and the agreed-upon pattern. Select natural or black as a starting point; material and color will be confirmed in the quote. A request for a different technique or material type must be described in advance, as it may change both the appearance and the scope of work.

The wooden frame can be assessed for restoration at the same time as the seat or cushions. Specify if you wish to preserve the current tone and visible signs of wear. The shown price for the wooden frame is an independent starting point; major damage or replacement of parts requires a specific quote.

Show the seat from above and below, both armrests, the back's edges and the joints between the legs and cross-pieces. Specify the wood finish and number of chairs.

A photo of the markings or model number helps identify the version. State the number of pieces of furniture, previous repairs, and the issues you experience during use. Take photos calmly and with enough light so that both edges and details can be seen.

Starting price and agreement before work

All prices are indicative starting prices per piece of furniture, including VAT. Material consumption, quality, and the actual condition of the furniture can change the final amount. Work is only initiated once materials, scope, and price have been agreed upon in a specific quote. The timing for drop-off and completion is clarified in the same process.
