Distinguish between a new cover and new padding
Re-covering often means replacing the visible material. Reupholstery may also include filling and the construction that provides support. These terms are not always used consistently, so describe the actual work rather than relying on a label.
Does the text state that old fabric is removed? Is the foam retained? Is the base checked? And what happens if there is damage that could not be seen in the images? Agree that any additional work must be described and quoted before it is carried out.

The table is a reading list, not a claim that all tasks have all items. A loose chair seat and a fully upholstered armchair are different projects.
Why fabric choice affects more than material price
A pattern may need matching across several seats. Directional fabric may require a particular orientation, and a large pattern repeat can create more offcuts. Multiplying the seat’s width by its depth is therefore not enough to calculate the material required.
Request a complete quote for the selected material quality. If you change the fabric afterwards, both quantity and price should be confirmed again. For a complete set, planning work on chairs as one coordinated job is particularly useful.
Describe the comfort issue
For example, write “I can feel the seat board after fifteen minutes” or “the back is uneven”. This is more useful than “needs better foam”. The choice of foam and construction requires knowledge of both the piece and the intended use.
Photographs can show the shape, but they cannot document everything underneath the fabric. A reservation for hidden conditions should be concrete and accompanied by an agreement on how you will be informed.
Compare the overall result
Do not choose solely on the briefest price line. Compare what you will receive: materials, support, preserved details and a clear agreement on the process. Keep photos, the fabric number and the accepted description together. This provides a shared reference when the furniture is dropped off and later returned.
