Find model and previous alterations
Bamsestolen is associated with Hans J. Wegner's design, but a specific chair may have a long repair history. Photograph marks, underside and details. State what you know about previous upholstery and padding.
PP Møbler's description of pp19 shows a traditional construction using several materials and springs. This does not mean every older or altered chair has exactly the same contents today. Its current construction must be examined.
Consider shape before fabric
Take photos from the same distance at the front, side and rear. State whether you want to preserve the chair's current fullness or whether part has collapsed. This is more precise than simply ordering “new foam”.
PP Møbler's product description highlights how upholstery layers and buttons contribute to the shape. The work should therefore be assessed by someone who can consider the whole construction.
Document the small visible choices
Photograph buttons, piping, seams and the transition between fabric and wood. Should buttons and edges have the same material as the rest, or do you wish for a contrast? Decide based on a full sample.

Assess the seat cushion separately
A loose cushion may have a different history than the chair's fixed upholstery. Describe its support, shape and fit. Clarify whether the task includes new upholstery, new filling or both.
The aim should be a coherent piece of furniture, rather than automatically using the same new material in every layer. Have the construction specified in the quote.
Save reference and material information
