MK16 folding chair: construction and work required

The MK16 Folding Chair was designed by Mogens Koch. The MK16 has a foldable wooden frame with crossing bars, a fixed canvas seat, and a separate, replaceable canvas back. Saddle leather straps serve as armrests, and brass fittings connect the parts.

The canvas back and seat have different fixings. The arm straps also require checking of the fittings, and the folding mechanism must remain free after the work.

Choose a service for MK16 folding chair

You can select New canvas seat and back and Restoration of wooden frame and New arm straps, pair as a starting point in the price selector. The quote concerns your own furniture. If several jobs are needed, they are described together in the quote; selections in the price selector are not automatically added together.

The canvas price includes a new seat and back with existing usable attachment points. A pair of new arm straps and wood restoration are separate choices. New brass fittings, work on the folding mechanism, and structural damage are assessed separately.

Materials and the appearance you want to preserve

The seat and back require suitable cotton canvas with dimensions and weave adapted to the chair. The seat is attached to the frame, while the back part can be replaced separately. Arm straps are made from load-bearing saddle leather. Brass fittings and the wood finish are reviewed before the work is agreed upon.

The wooden frame can be assessed for restoration at the same time as the seat or cushions. Specify if you wish to preserve the current tone and visible signs of wear. The shown price for the wooden frame is an independent starting point; major damage or replacement of parts requires a specific quote.

Photos for assessing MK16 folding chair

Show seat and back from both sides, the seat attachments, arm straps and brass rings. Show the chair both open and folded, if this can be done without stressing damaged parts.

A photo of the markings or model number helps identify the version. State the number of pieces of furniture, previous repairs, and the issues you experience during use. Take photos calmly and with enough light so that both edges and details can be seen.

Starting price and agreement before work

All prices are indicative starting prices per piece of furniture, including VAT. Material consumption, quality, and the actual condition of the furniture can change the final amount. Work is only initiated once materials, scope, and price have been agreed upon in a specific quote. The timing for drop-off and completion is clarified in the same process.
